District Simplified Grants (DSG)

District Simplified Grants (DSGs) are a tool for Rotary districts to support short-term, humanitarian projects that benefit the communities within their district.

DSG projects should support the goals and mission of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. Projects must adhere to the official DSG Terms and Conditions provided by TRF.

DSGs are funded by District Designated Funds (DDF), which are recorded as contributions to TRF three years prior to their use.

All grants of The Rotary Foundation require the highest attention to stewardship. Progress reports are required every 12 months for the life of the project(s). A final report is due within two months of the full expenditure of funds.

A DSG must be matched by a club’s contribution to the Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Fund. That is, if a club gives $3000 to the RI Annual Giving Fund, the club will be eligible for up to $3000 in DSG funds

A District Simplified Grant has various rules and requirements that are determined both by RI and the District itself. Once the grant is approved, regular reports are necessary, and 50% of the money must be spent before new money is released.
